Making Games (games, games, games)

I have been struggling with ICM and often feel like I just don’t get it. I follow in class but then left to my own devices I feel lost. This has not been great for a my self-confidence.

Anyway, I was feeling pretty down about this last week (there were tears) and realized that I refuse to fail. I am capable. Why not?

So I set it upon myself to make some simple games. It took me all weekend! And a lot of frustration/energy but I finally made two games that work pretty well.

Here they are:

In this game the user tries to match the color on the left of the screen to the color on the right of the screen by mixing RGB values – using 3 sliders. It still needs a lot of work but it functions and THAT IS SO EXCITING!

In this games the player keeps trying to click on a moving circle. Each time they successfully catch the circle they are sent to a new level where the circle is smaller. The hardest part of building this was trying to get level 3 to work. There are 2 circles!

This game also requires a lot more work: score board, more levels, etc. BUT damn was I happy when I figured level 3 out.

Needless to say, I am feeling a little bit better about this coding thing.

I love RGB Match – brilliant! ANd also super relevant to what we’re doing in Visual Language. And also harder than it looks! Very very cool.
